The Sitges day trip from Barcelona
Sitges is the easiest, best day out from gay Barcelona: a 35-minute train, a relaxed seafront, a proper gay beach, and bars that have been doing this since long before it was a hashtag. You almost never need a tour for it.
Our pick
Just take the train. Sitges is a 35-40 minute hop on the Rodalies R2 Sud, runs all day, and costs under five euros each way. Book a guided tour only if you want a wider coast itinerary or zero logistics; for a beach-and-bars day, DIY wins on price and freedom.
Getting there
- Train
- Rodalies R2 Sud from Barcelona Sants or Passeig de Gracia
- Journey
- About 35-40 min, several per hour
- Fare
- From EUR 4.60 each way
- Last train back
- Late; check the day's timetable, especially in summer
On the day
From Sitges station it is a ten-minute walk down to the front. The central gay beach is Playa de la Bassa Rodona, right on the main promenade; for a quieter, clothing-optional stretch, walk twenty minutes south toward Platja de l'Home Mort. The bar cluster is around Carrer del Pecat, locally "Sin Street," a couple of blocks back from the church.
Go for the day in season, or stay for an evening during Sitges Pride (10-14 June 2026) or the famous Carnival in February. Both are worth timing a trip around.
